Speak Truth to the Power!!
The Washington Times reported on March 3, 2023, “Tennessee has become the first state to enact a law this year prohibiting sexually explicit drag shows where they may be viewed by children, reacting to concerns about the upswing of drag queens entertaining kids in schools and public libraries. Republican Gov. Bill Lee signed Senate Bill 3 into law this past Thursday without fanfare after signaling his support earlier, saying it was important to ensure that children were not “potentially exposed to sexualized entertainment, to obscenity.”
As the Tweet pictured here accurately reports, those who try to tell us that men are women and women are men and promote the grossest of sexual perversions are the minority. They have risen (bullied) their way to the top almost unchallenged by threats and telling lies. What a shame we don’t know our federal and state Constitutions as we should. And hiding behind the coattails of the ACLU they retort,” ACLU of Tennessee Legal Director Stella Yarbrough said she feared that the law would be abused “to censor people based on their own subjective viewpoints of what they deem appropriate, chilling protected free speech and sending a message to LGBTQ Tennesseans that they are not welcome in our state.”
To allow children to view drag queen shows should not be determined based on subjective viewpoints. What about obscenity laws? Is Tennessee law being violated at all here? Should not we citizens be demanding to look at the effects of sexualizing young people has had on them? Mountains of research exists on this topic. It can rightfully be called child abuse. And it cannot be stated strongly enough, people of faith who understand that all human beings are spiritual beings first and foremost…NOT sexual beings!
Believers in Christ and especially spiritual leaders have a message to share about the sacred nature of human life. The time is now to encourage one another to share this truth in love. Let’s be salt and light and let the love of God flow through us to people who have never exerpienced that.
