While the Foundations are Being Destroyed
In America, we are watching certain groups who have obtained power burn down our Foundations, our Godly Heritage. They are doing this through means such as attacking the Founders of this country, marginalizing those who disagree with totalitarianism, putting themselves above rule of law and many other wrongs being committed. We must not lose heart because of what we are told in Psalm 11, “The wicked bow their bows so they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart” (v. 2). Who destroys the Foundation and why?
The wicked must resort to evil means in order to gain power. They cannot come out and just state their goals to dominate and enslave humanity. They lie and make things up and people who don’t think through what they are being told mindlessly accept it. They have no interest in repairing a good foundation where needed. The wicked do not seek to lead and govern but rather bear rule.
What do upright people do in these circumstances? Let’s look at Psalm 11 again, verses 4 and 5. It says:
“The LORD is in His holy temple. The LORD’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. “
Because of these truths we must ask, “Will we believe and trust in God no matter what happens?” This gives us a confidence to:
Put your trust in the LORD
Stand your ground
Remember that God is in control
Reminder, practice what we believe, trust Him in all things
Psalm 11:5-6 says reminds us that God will deal with the wicked. But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.
The Lord never forgets His own! For the LORD is righteous. He loves righteousness. His countenance beholds the upright.
